hamo's question:
What is that "tapis de fleurs" covering la Grand Place of Brussels in summer? I heard Belgians talking about this custom, but I'm not sure what it consists of...(give a different answer) .
From August 14 to 16, in even years only, about 700.000 begonias are deposited in the Grand Place, creating a carpet as big as 80 by 250 feet. The flowers are taken from a plant-growing farm near Ghent...it's fantastic to see all those colors mixed and so much perfume in the air! If you want to take a memorable picture, climb to the second story of the Town Hall!
